The Needham Girls Rookie Softball League is for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade girls in Needham. We are a division of Needham Summer Baseball. Our goal is for every girl to have fun and develop a sense of self-confidence while playing softball. We are dedicated to providing each child with the opportunity to play softball in an enjoyable and safe program. Coaches are encouraged to provide positive feedback to players of all abilities throughout games and practices. All teams are parent coached and all parents are encouraged to become involved in any capacity possible.
The season begins in April, and ends in June. All children will be placed on a team, and we will have as many teams as possible. Children are placed on teams according to school attended and/or neighborhood. However, we cannot guarantee specific team assignments. One game per week will be scheduled, and occasionally two games. Games will start at 6:00 P.M. and last for approximately one and one half hours.

Our league will only succeed through the efforts of parent volunteers. Each team will have one manager and as many coaches as volunteer. Prior softball or coaching experience is appreciated, but not neccessary.
No scores will be kept so that everyone wins and there are no losers. Batters will hit the ball off of a tee, and the smaller softball will be used. Every player will come to bat each inning, and all of the players will take the field when the other team comes to bat.
